Tips for designing a new kitchen

Designing a new kitchen can be a confusing task because of the numerous considerations to be made. You have to select the appliances that you will use, the materials for the kitchen worktop and the kitchen layout. Selecting the right design and material for your kitchen can be time confusing but requires careful selection, as designing a new kitchen can be an expensive process.

The kitchen is often, considered as the hub of a home and it is important to get the right choice of materials for the cabinets, worktops as well as planning the layout correctly.

The first step is designing the floor plan for your new kitchen. There are different layouts available for your kitchen and you should choose the one depending on the space available.

If the kitchen space is rectangular and long, then you can opt for the galley kitchen or ‘L’ shaped kitchen. The galley kitchen is perfect if you require more surface area in the kitchen to work but can restrict free movement. On the other hand, the L shaped kitchen extends perpendicularly along a wall without any surface on the opposite side.

However, if the kitchen space if square shaped, then the simplest layout option would be a ‘U’ shaped kitchen. This type of kitchen has worktops on three kitchen walls and provides ample space for keeping all your appliances. In addition, if you have a large kitchen space, then you can have island worktops combined with the ‘U’ shaped kitchen.
